Vacuum coating refers to heating metal or non-metal materials under high vacuum conditions, so that it evaporates and condenses on the surface of plated parts (metal, semiconductor or insulator) and forms a film in method.
Vacuum coating is an important aspect in the field of vacuum application. It is based on vacuum technology, using physical or chemical methods, and absorbing a series of new technologies such as electron beam, molecular beam, ion beam, plasma beam, radio frequency and magnetic control, providing a new process for the preparation of thin films for scientific research and practical production. To put it simply, the metal, alloy or compound in vacuum evaporation or sputtering, so that it is coated in the object (called substrate, substrate or matrix) on the solidification and deposition method, called vacuum coating.
It is well known that as long as a thin film is coated on the surface of some materials, the material can have many new and good physical and chemical properties. In the 1970s, the main methods of coating on the surface of the object are electroplating and electroless plating. The former is through electricity, so that the electrolyte electrolytic, electrolytic ion plating as another electrode substrate surface, so the coating conditions, the substrate must be a good conductor of electricity, and the thickness of the film is difficult to control. The latter is the use of chemical reduction method, must be prepared into the film material solution, and can quickly participate in the reduction reaction, this coating method is not only poor film bonding strength, and the coating is not uniform and not easy to control, at the same time will produce a large number of liquid waste, causing serious pollution. Therefore, these two kinds of coating process, which is called wet coating method, are greatly limited.
Vacuum coating is relative to the above wet coating method and developed a new coating technology, usually called dry coating technology.
